The Bubblecakes Story
Our Name:
I know, you are saying to yourself, cute blankets, cute name, but where did it come from? I have to go back to the beginning… I used to live in Southwest Florida (back when I only had one child) many, many weekends were spent driving to the end of Captiva Island at sunset to grab a DELICIOUS piece of Orange Crunch Cake from The Bubble Room. We would take it and sit on the beach and watch the sunset while we all shared the cake. It became a tradition. My daughter was only 1 or 2 yrs old and she would say,” are we gonna get bubblecake, mommy”?
I have so many great memories of those times! When we go back for vacation we always go to the beach and have some “bubblecake”. I think all those warm nights with the setting sun, a belly full of cake and quality time with my family is the exact feelings a baby blanket should give a baby! …hence the name bubblecakes!
Our Blankets:
When I started sewing I was very young, probably too young to be running the sewing machine my grandma gave me. I would sew up all kinds of things and sell them to my friends!
When my friends started having children, it would be baby shower after baby shower! I wanted to give them a gift that was unique and personalized. I didn’t want to be at their baby shower and my gift be one of the many boring baby items from their registry! I wanted my gift to be that “it” gift, the one that everyone passes around the shower with ewws and ahhs. I wanted everyone to ask “where did you find that”.
I spent hours shopping around and didn’t find anything. So I decided to get out the ‘ol sewing machine (the same one my grandma gave me when I was eight) and make it! I made a cute little cowboy print blanket. Everyone loved it! After that first baby shower I had 3 orders for more blankets like it! Being the entrepreneur I am I decided to make more to sell to local boutiques and online. The need for my own website quickly grew. So after years of hard work, sweat, tears, the birth of a few more kids and all the ups and downs, we are finally here.
Our goal:
Our goal is to always create unique personalized baby blankets. I want to keep our designs fresh and new. I want our blankets to be your baby’s favorite, an heirloom to keep forever, all the while being very stylish and personal! I want our customers to feel like they have purchased a really cool keepsake that will last a lifetime. I want every customer to be so satisfied that they tell all their friends and family about us!
